Start with medical documentation
Even when symptoms seem manageable, same-day or next-day medical care creates a reliable record of what changed after the crash. Follow-up visits matter because insurers often look for gaps in care.
Preserve what the insurer may not collect
Photos, dash camera files, repair estimates, names of witnesses, tow records, rideshare receipts, and missed-work notes can become important later. Keep copies in one folder before phones are replaced or messages are deleted.
Be careful with recorded statements
Insurance adjusters may ask narrow questions before the full injury picture is known. It is reasonable to confirm basic facts while avoiding guesses about speed, fault, or medical prognosis.
